Monsterific Valentine's Cards

It's been so long! The semester started up again, and I've been super busy with research, reading, blah, blah. But I've missed my blog.

Today I'm sharing what we did for Valentine's cards. Yes, we're ahead of the game, but with all of the freak snow and ice we've had around here, it was something to do. And now I can share it in time for you to do it too!

I was inspired by this post from Make and Takes, which is a very cool blog for stuff to do with the kiddos. Really, the only change I made was the with the monsters themselves. I don't have a super cool Cricut or Silhouette machine (hint, hint), so I improvised. I found these cute little boogers on Etsy and had them printed four to a page on white card stock.

What I liked most about this activity what that Presley at two-years-old could actually participate. She had tons of fun putting the google eyes on and then sticking the monsters on the construction paper with those little foam stickers.

She did that while I stuck on the candy - didn't trust her to do it - and write the Valentine part. And here we are - ready for the preschool & our play date Valentine party.

Couple of thoughts here. You don't have to use Dove heart-shaped candy for the front. Really any packaged Valentine-themed candy would do. And Valentine stickers couldn't hurt either. And if you're not a scrapbooker, like me, those foam sticky things are kind of hard to find. They are in the scrapbook adhesive area. Seems like a no-brainer now that I know that, but it took me a whole 7ish minutes to figure that out...And I know my Hobby Lobby like the back of my hand.
