I've had fruit sushi pinned for forever and kept putting on our weekly plans to do, but for the last several months we kept skipping it. I was originally inspired by this post from Serving Pink Lemonade's blog.
Not referring to any instructions or direction, here's what I used.
| Fruit Roll-Ups, banana, kiwi fruit, and sliced apples. |
| Then I just rolled them up. |
| And put spindles on top because I didn't have coconut. |
| Can you tell I was playing with my aperture settings? |
| Then I sliced them up. These are mine. |
| And these are Miss P's. She had a lot of fun with the sprinkles. |
| Overall, this was fun to do and kept her entertained. |
She mostly stuck to the Fruit Roll-Ups. (It was the first time having them in the house.)
I was disappointed with how unpretty they ended up. You need a very sharp knife to keep the fruit from slipping out as you cut the roll-up: I wasn't expecting that. Also, with the roll-up and sprinkles, I found this WAY too sweet and could barely taste the fruit. Maybe I should have used less roll-up per piece of fruit. Or used something else entirely.
Either way, it was a successful 3-year old activity because we had fun, but I wouldn't serve this to guests.
